Montreal wedding locations
This is a short round up of some of the best wedding venues and very cool and special event spaces and wedding venues in Montreal that I’ve been to, worked at, and can say with authority, C’est bon mon ami. A wedding venue needs to have all the right pieces to be considered ‘the place’’ and I would personally host wedding receptions at any of these locations.
Auberge St Gabriel - Wedding Venue
The Auberge St Gabriel is a very well known and loved restaurant / venue in the Old Port, and is one of the best indoor wedding venues in Montreal. It offers both indoor and outdoor spaces, including a large backyard for ceremonies and a sheltered terrace for outdoor experiences. It is also suitable for corporate events, offering a versatile space for various occasions. The Auberge is an Old Montreal gem and one of those event spaces that checks all the boxes. Room for a dance floor, plenty of tables, and even more open space for cocktail hour and guest to mingle freely. It’s a super charming venue known for having one of the best kitchens in town, making it a super indoor space that can cater from boho-chic, and more modern bride and grooms. It’s also not far at all from downtown montreal, so out of town guests that may be staying there can easily hop in an Uber and be there in 10 minutes. Everything about your wedding reception will be unique, as there are three different rooms available for you to rent. The vibe upstairs is very rustic without being overly so. Downstairs is more dark and moody, more tightly spaced, and not so good if you want a happening dance floor, but if you love exposed brick walls, candlelight only dinning, this is 100% the spot to save for your next date night. Auberge St Gabriel is for sure one of the more cool indoor wedding venues you might consider.
Salon de thé Cardinal - Boutique Hotel
The cardinal tea room Montreal is a pretty unique wedding venue that I first came across many years ago and loved right away. The cardinal tearoom montreal got my attention firstly because it’s right in the middle of mile-end which isn’t known for having many wedding venues, but that’s exactly the point, it’s not a wedding venue at all. What it is - is a very cute and cool tea house which you can rent for intimate weddings which is perfect for events with less than 80 people. It is also perfect for special occasions, adding to its versatility. There is enough room at the bar, at the tables spread around here and there, and upstairs there are surprises too for adventurous guests. Stacy and Edd threw their wedding reception there and I do believe some of my favourite bride and groom images that season came from that evening. There are large windows at the front which let in tons of light from the street, making this room with super high ceilings bright all day. Personally I would not arrange my wedding ceremony here as space is already limited, but I definitely would arrange this as the place for my wedding reception. Overall, for a wedding venue, it’s for sure on the creative side, but if you’re someone looking into very different indoor wedding venues the Salon de thé Cardinal should be a spot to check out.
Le Richmond Griffintown - Reception Halls
Industrial chic space for a wedding day, Le Richmond Griffintown is a venue I love for many reasons. It offers ample amenities and can comfortably accommodate a large number of wedding guests, ensuring a memorable experience for everyone. It is a modern reception hall that combines contemporary design with historical charm. Indoor wedding venues have to hit a lot of boxes, and this one works perfectly for ceremony, an excellent bar for cocktail hour, dancing, and there is a hidden rooftop terrace too! Montreal QC has plenty of offer engaged couples and Le Salon Richmond is downtown Montreal, (Griffintown to be precise) easy to get too, and checks all the boxes for an A+ Wedding venue. Le Salon Richmond is a very school space.
The Forest and Stream Club Dorval - Outdoor Wedding Ceremony
The forest and stream club might be one of my top favs for event space in the area, just from having so many great events there, and such good memories. The Forest and Stream Club Dorval features a beautiful outdoor terrace, perfect for enjoying the scenic views. The Forest and Stream Club Dorval is the place for an epic outdoor wedding ceremony, and a great space for a tent wedding, right on the water. The West Island isn’t rich with venues for outdoor weddings, but this location has it all for those looking for fresh air, beautiful sunsets, green grass, and plenty of space to cut loose. It’s twenty minutes from downtown Montreal, and has the feel of being much farther away. The perfect spot for a rich, fancy, outdoor ceremony, the Forest and Stream Club is the spot for a dream wedding.
Le Salon Richmond 1861 - Reception Halls
Not to be confused with the Richmond Griffintown (seen above), Le Salon Richmond 1881 is a much larger, open space, with limitless options for design and style, since the interior is massive and could easily hold 300 people. This venue will need some real wedding planning/design help to make it what you want it to be, because without a lot of decor and serious investment it could just as easily be a concert hall for a Metallica concert. Guests do love the wider open space inside and it can be the perfect space if you’re planning on throwing an epic wedding night.
Jamaican Pavilion
Semi Hidden by the floral gardens of île Notre-Dame, the Jamaican Pavilion is a gorgeous little wedding venue perfect for summer nights. Built around the time of Expo 67, you can find this gem hidden within the magnificent Floralies Gardens, and offers stunning green backdrops, intense sunset views, and the natural lighting ideal for wedding photography. Likely the max guest list you might consider having would be around 90 people, and with this spot being on the Ile Notre Dame, it’s a beautiful view of the city lights just across the water. Floor to ceiling windows surround this venue making it bright and green all day and evening.
More Options
These venues aren’t ones I have been to in the past few years, but can 100% say they are worth checking out. La Toundra in particular is a beautiful spot, off the island (only 10 minutes) and so much going for it that I had to include it here. A great wedding venue needs so have so much going for it, and Montreal QC has some great ones, but these ones are mostly well known and all have great reputations and service. I love an outdoor ceremony, high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, and great light. Check :)
Château Ramezay
Château Ramezay is a historic site that offers a unique charm for weddings. It is also an ideal location for wedding photography, providing picturesque settings that capture beautiful photos. It provides an elegant setting that enhances the sophistication of any wedding celebration. The venue’s old-world charm and beautiful architecture make it a perfect choice for couples looking to host an unforgettable event.
La Toundra
A very cool woodsy spot on île Notre-Dame, La Toundra is surrounded by the St Lawrence river, and just a hidden gem of a wedding venue. The contemporary decor features sleek lines and modern furnishings that perfectly complement the natural surroundings. One of the best wedding venues for lush, green, heritage vibes since it’s a super well designed venue built for the Expo ‘67 games. The interior is all about modern architecture, floor to high ceilings/windows, lot of room for dancing, mingling, and spending time with all your loved ones, and has both indoor and outdoor ceremony options. 160-250 people is the max, which means a big party, with plenty of space for tables, dancing, and all sorts of fun adventures outside in the gorgeous gardens. The venue's indoor and outdoor spaces cater to various wedding celebrations, offering a large backyard for ceremonies, a picturesque vineyard for photography, and a sheltered terrace for outdoor experiences. La Toundra might be the perfect venue for a gorgeous and green outdoor wedding ceremony.
